YMCA Restarting LiveStrong Program for Cancer Survivors

The Free 12-Week Well-Being Program starts February 20th

After being paused for a couple of years due to the pandemic, the Mankato Family YMCA is restarting the LiveStrong at the YMCA program for adult cancer survivors. This free small-group fitness program is designed to help survivors reclaim their total health.

This research-based program is led by certified fitness instructors who have been trained in supportive cancer care. The 12-week program starts on February 20th and offers two 90-minute classes per week with a combination of individual instruction and group activities.

“The importance of bringing back the LiveStrong at the YMCA program means so much to me,” said Zach Erickson, Wellness Director at the Y. “I have the privilege to bring cancer survivors together as a united front to both inspire and empower one another.”

Cancer is a live-changing disease that takes a termendous physical and emotional toll on those affected. LiveStrong at the YMCA has a number of program goals to help cancer survivors to move beyond their disease such as building muscle mass and strength, increasing flexibility and endurance and improving confidence and self-esteem.

Adults who meet the criteria for this program are encouraged to register online at https://mankatoymca.org/ or by clicking here. If anyone has questions, they can reach out to Zach Erickson, Wellness Director at [email protected].
