The Mankato Family YMCA invites runners, walkers and families to lace up for a festive evening at the Holiday Hustle: A 5K with the Y on Saturday, November 22nd at Sibley Park.
This special 5K event offers participants the first look at the Kiwanis Holiday Lights display of the season. The race begins at 4:45pm,, with pre-race activities starting at 3:30pm. Those activities include face painting, sign making and other family-friendly fun to get everyone in the holiday spirit.
Registration is $40 for adults and $25 for youth. The first 100 participants to register will receive a Holiday Hustle t-shirt and finisher medal. Participants can register online at https://tinyurl.com/HolidayHustle2025.
“This event is such a fun way to kick off the holidays – combining fitness, community, and the joy of seeing the Kiwanis Holiday Lights display,” said Sophie Tonander, Director of Sports and Recreation. “Whether you run, walk, or stroll, everyone will leave glowing!”
The Holiday Hustle also marks the culmination of the STRIDE for ALL season, a YMCA youth program that helps kids in grades 3-6 build confidence, character and fitness through running. The program focuses on leadership, goal-setting, healthy choices, cooperation, and character development – all while preparing participants to complete the 5K as a final achievement.
“Our STRIDE for ALL participants have been training and growing together all season,” said Tonander. “For many of them, this race represents accomplishing a goal they’ve been working toward for weeks – and celebrating everything they’ve learned about perseverance and teamwork.”
