The Mankato Family YMCA is proud to announce the completion of an exciting and impactful Eagle Scout project by local Scout, Aiden Gaul. Aiden, a dedicated and community-minded young leader, has successfully designed and built two portable gaga ball pits for the YMCA’s Youth Programs—giving local children a new, fun, and engaging way to stay active both indoors and outdoor

This project, which has been more than a year in the making, was inspired by Aiden’s personal connection to the YMCA and his desire to give back to a place that has meant so much to him. With support and guidance from the YMCA’s Director of Social Responsibility, Tom Schueneman, and Director of Youth Development, Dustin Slaughter, Aiden brought his vision to life with precision, creativity, and heart. “These gaga ball pits are more than just a project,” said Aiden. “They’re a way for me to give something lasting back to the kids in the community. The YMCA helped shape me, and I’m thrilled to give others a chance to create their own great memories here.”

The two gaga ball pits are designed with versatility and ease of use in mind—they are completely portable, making them ideal for both indoor and outdoor play. When not in use, they can be conveniently stored to keep space clear and organized. The pits will serve as a high-energy, inclusive activity for youth participating in YMCA programs, camps, and events throughout the year.

“Aiden’s project exemplifies the spirit of the Eagle Scout honor—leadership, service, and a commitment to community,” said Tom. “His dedication, planning, and follow-through were truly impressive, and the result is something that will benefit hundreds of children for years to come.”

As Aiden now prepares to officially earn the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, he does so with pride not just in the honor itself, but in the difference he’s made for the kids of Mankato.

The Mankato Family YMCA extends its heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to Aiden for his hard work. We can’t wait to see these gaga ball pits in action this spring and summer!
