Today, Tuesday, September 17, is National Voter Registration Day! National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan civic holiday celebrating our democracy. First observed in 2012, it has quickly gained momentum. Since then, millions of people have registered to vote on the holiday.
Join us in celebrating the holiday by:
- Checking your voter registration status (this is important if you’re newly eligible to vote or have recently moved or changed your name!)
- Registering to vote
- Sharing information about the holiday and registering to vote with your community using the hashtags #VoteReady and #NationalVoterRegistrationDay
At the Y, we know that voting is associated with many positive benefits. According to The Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement, voters are more likely to volunteer, contact their elected officials and stay informed about local affairs. It also helps strengthen social ties and improves health.
We’re excited to celebrate voting with you!
