Temporary Closure of the YMCA

Published On: November 18, 2020Categories: Uncategorized
Dear YMCA Members,

The health and well-being of our members, staff and community continue to be our number one priority. Following Governor Walz’s announcements, the Mankato YMCA will close its doors at the end of the business day on Friday, November 20. We will remain closed for four weeks.

While our gym facilities will remain closed during this time, we are launching a new Virtual Fitness platform via Motion Vibe for members. This platform will host a variety of pre-recorded fitness classes from your YMCA instructors. Throughout the closure, our team will continue to add new content to this virtual fitness platform. We will also continue to offer our Live with Y virtual classes in our Virtual Studio on Facebook.

We have expanded our Distance Learning Academic Support and After School programs for essential workers. This program, along with our preschool and mentoring programs, will continue to take place for participants while our gym facilities are closed. These programs are vital to our mission of supporting youth, families and building a stronger community.

Our November membership draft was already in progress at the time of Governor Walz’s announcement and will process as scheduled on November 20. As members, here are your options:
  • Keep your membership active to support the YMCA’s operations during this uncertain time. (No action required.)
  • Request a refund for November membership fee. Click here to fill out the form.
Thank you for your continued support during this difficult time.
