Brother/Sister

BROTHER/SISTER PROGRAM Making a positive difference in the life of a kid who needs it. That's the role -- and reward -- of the Brother/Sister volunteer. The Brother/Sister program creates a unique bridge connecting caring adult mentors to youth. Mentors help youth increase their self-confidence, social and communication skills, positive behaviors and and help improve relationships at home, school and within the community. Helping pay for camp The YMCA is offering kids the opportunity to earn their way to camp. The 2012 coupon book will give kids a chance to earn the dollars to help pay for their camp experiences. To participate, kids and a parent must attend a fundraising meeting on Tuesday, March 20. That will also be an ideal time to register for a camp to make sure they secure a spot.

SKATEBOARDING CAMPS

A new addition to the Y camp experience

June 18-22

Skateboarding Camp

A week-long program that provides time for extensive training with instructors. Youth will skate in groups based on their skill level,
each day focusing in different parts of the park. Hands-on learning will help youth get acclimated to new ramps, tricks and other riders
in a safe environment. Be prepared to learn ollies, flip tricks, grinds, half-pipe riding and more. Youth supply a skateboard, helmet and
pads.

Designed for campers who have completed any grade 4–8.

July 30-Aug. 3

Video Skate Camp

This skateboarding camp experience will sharpen your skateboarding skills under the supervision of trained instructors. You will also learn how to film the action like a pro to create great skateboarding videos. Youth supply a skateboard, helmet, pads and
camera. Instructors will have extra cameras available if needed. Designed for mid- to advanced-level riders who have completed any grade 4–8.

Teen Skate Day Trips

Are you a teen who’s always on the go? Then you will love the day trips that we have planned for you. We will travel off-site to enjoy the best of what the summer has to offer at three of Minnesota’s finest skateboard parks. Rainy days will be spent inside at Buffalo Skate Park. Skateboard, helmet, pads and waivers are required to attend this camp.
